Junk Email - Filter Sensitivity

Filter Sensitivity adjusts the tolerance levels of the email filtering criteria, including the category filters. If you find not enough junk email is being directed to your Message Center, this is the setting to adjust. However, the more stringently you set the sensitivity, the greater the opportunity a "legitimate" message might be mistakenly quarantined.

  • Lenient - More junk email may appear in your inbox, however, there is less chance that "legitimate" email will be unnecessarily directed to your Message Center as junk email. The Lenient setting identifies messages that are listed in Internet-based junk email tracking databases.
  • Moderate - Most junk email will be detected, with the possibility of only a few legitimate email messages mistakenly filtered. If you are not sure which level to select, or if you want middle-of-the-road filtering capability, select Moderate. This setting creates a matrix that blocks the majority of potential junk email messages, but errs on the side of delivering the messages, rather than directing to your Message Center.
  • Aggressive - Less junk email will appear in your inbox, however, there is greater chance legitimate email could be mistakenly detained in the Message Center. Select Aggressive if you want to keep your inbox as clean as possible. With this setting, Internet junk email is checked against tracking databases, the identification network, and lists of known junk email types. To be safe, make sure your Approved Sender list includes your most important senders before selecting this setting.

Tolerance for junk email often changes - initial excitement for special offers and sales, often turns to intolerance of any frivolous time-consuming communication. To meet your changing needs, these configurations can be changed at any time.
